Lazio Plan Move For Boateng
Italian side SS Lazio are said to be mooting a four-year offer for Schalke outcast Kevin-Prince Boateng.
The former AC Milan midfielder, who has had a poor season this term, was dealt a heavy blow on Monday. He was announced alongside Sidney Sam by the Schalke management as having been released from their contracts by the club. The club later said the two are on suspension.
According to Corriere della Sera and Tuttosport, Lazio, long admirers of the 28-year-old, are set to launch a second bid worth €2.2 million per season plus bonuses to tempt him to return to the Italian capital. Lazio failed to sign Boateng in 2010.
Boateng has one season more on his Schalke contract and the club are said to be plotting against having to compensate him for unilateral contract abrogation.
Meanwhile, the German professional players union, VDV, has released a statement criticising Schalke’s conduct as trying to use Kevin-Prince Boateng and Sidney Sam as scapegoats for their season woes, urging the two players to legally defend themselves against their employers.

Attacks On Celebrities Unfortunate – Says UFC
Lydia Forson
A group calling itself The United Cadres’ Front (UCF) has condemned derogatory comments made by some supporters of the ruling National Democratic Congress (NDC) against the intended dumsor vigil being organised by some celebrities.
Some celebrities who are organising a vigil against the current power crisis have faced some verbal attacks from members of the NDC, including Stephen Atubiga, Alhaji Haruna Alidu and Ras Mubarak.
The group argued that though it is not in support of the vigil, they believe every Ghanaian is entitled to exercise his or her right.
Speaking on Citi FM, the secretary of the group, Efanam Komla Nyaku, said the group is saddened by the recent attacks on artistes who have decided to go on a vigil, adding that in as much as the group is against those who are verbally abusing the celebrities, the group is not endorsing their demonstration.
He, however, called on NDC sympathisers to cease making such derogatory remarks against the celebrities, arguing that persons who wish to make such statements should not hide behind the NDC party.
Komla Nyaku, however, opined that the celebrities have failed to interrogate the real cause of the power crisis but have rather resolved to embark on a vigil.
“The issues have to do with what is the cause of the dumsor. Unfortunately, they have not bothered to interrogate the cause of the dumsor. If they had interrogated the cause of the dumsor, one would have thought that they will come out with alternatives to the dumsor other than what government is doing.”
According to him, he is unsure if the celebrities spearheading the vigil know that the “dumsor is not the creation of the present administration but it was the lack of foresight, planning and the absence right approach and attitude towards our energy situation.”
Komla Nyaku added that if the organisers are bent on embarking on the procession, “then Ghanaians must allow them to do it because it is clear that they are doing the demonstration in pursuit of an agenda rather than getting a solution and it is for this reason Ghanaians should allow them just as any other person who will go.”
