Quaison Jack in police custody

The Adjen Kotoku police have arrested a 28-year-old Hare Krishna worshipper for allegedly stabbing his fellow worshipper over food at their temple site at Medie in the Greater Accra Region.

The deceased, identified as Kwabena Gabudzi, 33, according to information gathered, prevented the suspect, Quaison Jack, 28, from being served his food after refusing to partake in temple work.

The body has since been deposited at the Korle-Bu Teaching Hospital awaiting autopsy

Confirming the arrest to DAILY GUIDE, Superintendent George Kuma, the Adjen Kotoku district police commander, said the incident occurred on Saturday, May 9, 2015 at the Medie Temple of the Hare Krishna sect.

Information gathered indicated that after the suspect, together with other fellow members, had finished with their morning devotional prayers, they were instructed by their leader, one Yaw Asante Krobia, to clean the church.

The leader purportedly instructed that any member who refused to partake in the cleaning of the church should not be served his breakfast.

Quaison, allegedly refused to take part in the cleaning of the temple and left for his room.

When it was time for food to be served, Quaison Jack was said to have joined other colleagues, but Gabudzi, who spotted him (Quaison) collecting some of the food, reportedly became infuriated, collected the plate of food from him (Quaison) and poured it back into the sauce pan.

Quaison became annoyed, and immediately left the dining hall and allegedly went to his room to pick a knife.

Suspect returned to the dining hall with a knife to attack Gabudzi but others spotted him and attempted to stop him.

Quaison Jack was said to have inflicted injury in the hand of one of his friends before proceeding to stab Gabudzi in the chest twice.

The victim was rushed to the nearest hospital but he died on the way.

Quaison was immediately apprehended and handed over to the police for investigation.

The knife the suspect used in committing the crime was yet to be retrieved by the police as at press time yesterday, as he is kept in police custody.

However, leaders of the sect have declared that Quaison was not a member of the faith.
