FOUR ASPIRANTS have been disqualified by the Vetting Committee of the New Patriotic Party (NPP) in the Greater Accra Region from competing in the parliamentary primaries scheduled for next month.

The four candidates were said to be coming from Domeabra-Obom, Dome-Kwabenya, Ada and Tema West constituencies.

Francis Senaky, the only candidate who intended to contest in the Ada constituency, was reportedly disqualified for his inability to pay for his filing fee.

The candidate for Dome-Kwabenya, whose name was not mentioned, was purportedly unable to substantiate certain claims on a certificate he submitted to the committee.

Carlos Ahenkorah was said to have failed to nurture the party at the constituency level and had not participated in party activities for at least four years.

Ishmael Ashitey, Greater Accra Regional chairman of the NPP, confirmed the disqualifications to DAILY GUIDE, saying that he had informed all the four aspirants and asked them to meet the Appeals Committee to defend themselves.

He said some aspirants had filed appeals challenging their disqualifications by the party’s Vetting Committee.

The Regional Appeals Committee is chaired by Eddie Annan, a former National Vice Chairman of the party, with Ben Annan, lawyer and member of the Constitutional Committee that drafted the current NPP Constitution and Madam Esther Ofori, a former National Treasurer of the party, as members.
